Lampton School Newsletter: Week 36 2025-26

Extreme weather update
Greater London is now subject to a red weather warning from the Met Office for Wednesday and Thursday of this week. As a result of this, school will close for all students at 12.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Registration and lessons 1 to 3 will continue as normal each day. Staff will set work online for students to complete for those afternoon lessons that are missed. It is the intention that school will be open as usual on Friday.
The sports days scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week have been postponed until a later date. The new year 11 trip day scheduled for Thursday has been postponed.
Our heat wave uniform adaptation applies for the whole of this week, i.e. No blazers or ties are required. Parents should ensure that their child comes to school with a water bottle to ensure that their child remains hydrated during the day.
Please remind your child of the following:
- Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if they don’t feel thirsty. Sending a refillable bottle with your child to school is always a good idea and they will be reminded to refill it during break times.
- Sun protection – Remind your child to apply sun cream before leaving for school. They may wish to reapply it if they have games in the afternoon, so bringing a small bottle of sun cream into school would also be a good idea.
- Break times – During the hottest parts of the day (lunchtimes), it is advisable for students to limit strenuous outdoor activities. Students should take frequent breaks or seek shade wherever possible. There are shaded areas in the canteen and in the school grounds.
Further updates will be communicated via text message.
Message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the tenth week of the summer term 2026. It is week B with year assemblies taking place.
Today marks the end of this year’s public examination season for ex year 11 and ex year 13 students. My thanks to students for their hard work and commitment and families for their support during this important time for students. We look forward to celebrating students’ success with them on their results’ days which will take place on Thursday 13th August for ex year 13 and Thursday 20th August for ex year 11.
Last week we welcomed families of our new year 10 cohort to their annual celebration event and this week sees the event taking place for the new year 13. Also last week our first year team trip day took place with new year 13 visiting a number of universities as they prepare for life after Lampton, as well as some of the year group taking part in a residential trip to Prague and a number taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition last weekend. Also a group of new year 10 students visited Jamie’s Farm in Somerset. Between now and the end of term on 17th July, each year group will be taking part in a trip day, details of which have been issued separately.
My thanks to parents and carers for their support of the school’s expectations with regard to mobile phones in school. The Government’s guidance on this becomes statutory on 29th June 2026 and makes it clear that: “All schools must be mobile phone free environments by default.” This aligns with our school rules which are, as a reminder:
- Mobile phones must be switched off and placed in bags at all times when a student is on the school site. This includes before and after school
- If the above is breached, the device will be confiscated for 5 working days
- Students in new year 8 are not permitted to bring a smartphone on to the school site. If this rule is broken the device will be confiscated until the end of the half-term, i.e. Friday 17th July 2026 for the current term. Students are permitted to have a non-smartphone, but it must be switched off and placed in their bag at all times when they are on the school site. This includes before and after school.
The school will continue with unannounced searches to ensure that students are compliant with our rules, and from 29th June 2026 compliant with Government statutory guidance. This expectation is also contained in the government guidance. Please click here for the statutory guidance which also outlines how parents/carers can support their children with the use of mobile phones outside of school as well.
Our annual sponsored walk takes place on Wednesday 15th July and this year is in aid of Steps2Recovery, a charity with the aim of providing help for ex-offenders caught in the merry go round of short prison sentences as a result of drug and alcohol addiction and its consequences, including homelessness and family breakdown. Students have studied this charity and the issues it tackles in their PSHE lessons.
Please see below the dates of key events happening in school this half-term:
| Tuesday 24th June | Year 13 prom |
| Tuesday 30th June | Year 11 prom |
| Thursday 2nd July | Creative & performing arts showcase |
| Tuesday 7th July | Primary transfer day and evening |
| Wednesday 15th July | Sponsored walk |
| Friday 17th July | Last day of term. School finishes at 12.30 |
With best wishes for the week ahead.

Lost property
If your child has lost any belongings over the school year, please ask them to see Pauline during their lunch break, so that she can help them look through the lost property store in the dining hall. During the summer holiday all lost property will be washed and donated to good causes.
Please ensure that all belongings, including those bought over the summer break, are clearly labelled with your child’s name so that we can easily reunite lost items with their owners.
