SIMS Parent App
We want to provide parents with the information they need to help them know about what is happening at Lampton School and how well their child / children are doing. We do this in a number of ways, for example through the newsletter, emails and text messages, the school website and via apps such as the Satchel App and the SIMS App.
In the future we want to be able to send more information to parents and have all the information that parents need in one place. This will reduce the number of apps that parents have to use to find out about the independent learning that their child has been set, pay for their child’s school meals and find out about how their child is behaving in school. To help us to do this we have decided to change from using the SIMS app to using the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app. The MCAS app is a very popular app with a rating of 4.4 out of 5 in the Apple App Store from almost 76,000 ratings. We will spend September and October getting the MCAS app ready for use, testing it and trialling it with a small group of parents. From November we will then begin to get parents to start using the MCAS app.
What this means for parents
In September, parents will continue to use ParentPay to pay for their child’s meals and to make payments for other items. They will also continue to use Satchel to find out about the independent learning their child is expected to complete. The SIMS app will not be updated from 01 September 2025 and so we recommend that parents delete the SIMS app once the autumn term starts.
We appreciate that this may cause an inconvenience for some parents as they will not get instant updates about their child’s attendance and behaviour. However, this information will still be provided at parents’ evenings and via reports. Parents can also contact their child’s teachers, form tutor or head of year for information on how their child is getting on at school. Information about how to contact members of staff can be found here: https://www.lampton.org.uk/6/contact
