Tuesday 5th May 2026

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the fourth week of the summer term 2026. It is week B so year assemblies are taking place.

This week marks the start of this year’s public examinations. Year 11 students will remain in lessons when not sitting exams, while year 13 will have their last day in school on Friday 8th May with their farewell assembly taking place during period 5 that day. We wish all students sitting examinations every success and look forward to celebrating their outcomes in August. Please note the date of the exam contingency day this year on Wednesday 24th June; all year 11 and year 13 students must be available on that date.

It was great to see such a good turnout at year 8 parents’ evening last Thursday and we look forward to welcoming year 7 families to their parents’ evening on Thursday 14th May from 16.00-19.00. Prior to that year 10 have their celebration evening on Tuesday 12th May at 16.00. On Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th May we are welcoming our students currently in year 6 and their families to their ‘Getting to Know You’ interview in preparation for them joining the Lampton community as year 7 in September. So, a very busy few weeks ahead in school for all members of our community as we approach the end of our academic year. Thank you to all for your continued support and engagement in the life of our school.

As the weather becomes warmer, students may choose not to wear their school jumper. Blazers, however, remain a compulsory part of our uniform and must be worn both in school and on the journey to and from school. Any exception to this expectation will be communicated with you.

Edurio Survey of Parents

Each year we conduct a survey of parents, students and staff in order to evaluate our effectiveness and to help determine the school’s improvement priorities for the year ahead. We review the data to analyse trends over time, and to compare our data with the data of other schools across the country. We also review individual comments as these often give us greater insight into what parents think and feel about the school.

Please complete the survey via this link, before the end of the half term. All responses are anonymous and we very greatly appreciate your time in telling us about our strengths and areas for improvement.

Year 8 Get To Meet A Humanist

Year 8 had a visit from a humanist speaker who explored how non-religious people approach values and ethical decision-making, which linked closely to our humanism scheme of work (SOW). They explained that humanists do not base moral decisions on religious teachings or divine authority, but instead on reason, evidence, and the goal of promoting human wellbeing. This connects to the humanism topic we studied, where thinkers such as A. J. Ayer and Julian Huxley emphasise that ethical decisions should be based on what can be observed and tested in the real world, rather than religious doctrine. The speaker gave examples of moral dilemmas and showed how humanists might use ideas like reducing harm, fairness, and empathy to reach decisions. This links to our SOW which teaches pupils that humanism is a worldview centred on human dignity and responsibility, where people are encouraged to think critically and take accountability for their actions. Overall, the visit helped students understand that ethical decision-making does not have to be based on religion, but can still be structured, consistent, and focused on improving human life.

Year 12 And Year 13 Visit St. Paul’s Cathedral

Year 12 and 13 students studying religious studies A level recently visited St Paul’s Cathedral for an enriching trip that brought key aspects of their course to life. They began with a guided tour of the cathedral, deepening their understanding of the Christianity component of their studies. This was followed by an engaging question and answer session with a priest, where students explored links to the philosophy and ethics component of their A level sparking a lively and thoughtful discussion.

The visit also included a climb to the Whispering Gallery, where students observed the Eucharist taking place below, offering a meaningful moment of reflection. They then continued up to the dome, where they were rewarded with breath taking panoramic views across London. It was unforgettable highlight of a truly memorable day.
