Lampton School Newsletter: Week 29 2025-26
Posted on Apr 27th 2026Monday 27th April 2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the third week of the summer term 2026. It is week A so whole school assemblies are taking place. These are being led by Mr Pavey (assistant headteacher) on the topic of our connected world.
On Thursday we look forward to welcoming year 8 families for the year groups parents’ evening which runs from 16.00-19.00.
For students in year 13 and year 11 these are the last weeks of lessons before the public examinations begin on Tuesday 5th May. Every minute counts so full attendance and engagement is necessary to ensure success. Year 11 remain in school between examinations and year 13 will commence study leave from 11th May with their last school day being Friday 8th May.
I have been meeting with heads of year over the last week to complete our annual review of each year group before our new academic year commences on Monday 1st June. It has been great to hear of the many individual success stories in each year group and as well each cohort as a whole. In particular, it has been pleasing to see the increased engagement in the school’s enrichment and personal development programme.
We look forward to welcoming year 10 families to the year group celebration event on Tuesday 12th May and supporting the students as they prepare to move up to year 11.
Please see below the dates of key events happening in school this half-term:

Year 8 Parents’ Evening – 30 April 2026
We look forward to meeting the parents of year 8 pupils on Thursday.
We consider it vital that all parents attend parents' evening. If you have not already made appointments to see your child’s teacher please contact mknappe@lampton.org.uk and she can make appointments for you. Please check your emails for a schedule of appointments.
Please arrive five minutes before your first appointment and sign in; you will be given a pack containing your child’s report and other important information. Please keep to the appointment times. This helps to ensure the efficient running of the evening for all parents.
Success: Big Bang STEM competition
We are delighted to share that Alisha, Season, Ikjot and Rizane have reached the final of this year’s Big Bang Competition. The Big Bang Competition is a national competition that celebrates innovation and problem-solving in science, technology, engineering and maths. Impressively, all four students entered independently, completing their projects in their own time.
They have now been selected to take part in final judging for The Big Bang UK Young Technologist of the Year, supported by Siemens and The ECITB Teamwork Award.
This is a fantastic achievement, and we wish them the very best of luck in the finals.
