Lampton School Newsletter: Week 24 2025-26
Posted on Mar 9th 2026Monday 9th March 2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the ninth week of the spring term 2026. It is Week A, so year assemblies are taking place. These are being led by Mr Smale (Assistant Headteacher) and are on the theme of climate change, character and integrity.
Last Friday year 11 assembly was focused on the all-important public examinations which this year begin on Tuesday 5th May. This is just a few school weeks away. In the assembly students were given further advice on revision techniques, including their use of the forthcoming holiday period, as well as advice on wellbeing. It is more important now, more than ever, that full attendance and punctuality are maintained for this cohort. Every moment really does matter. We look forward to seeing all students and their families at the forthcoming parents’ evening on Thursday 26th March from 16.00 – 19.00.
On Saturday a group of students from Lampton departed for a long weekend in Northern France as part of our enrichment programme. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday morning. My thanks to Mr Batten (Head of French) and colleagues for facilitating this opportunity.
In year 10, work experience is on the horizon with many students in the cohort having already secured their placements. In PSHE lessons over the coming few weeks, support will be put in place to ensure that all students have secured an appropriate placement. Thank you to parents and carers for their support in this endeavour.
This week is ‘Science Week’ and to mark this, on Wednesday our science department are welcoming 60 year 5 pupils from Edison Primary for a hands-on science Fair with year 12 students supporting the event. On Thursday 12 March we are excited to welcome Matt Green, a hugely popular GCSE Science content creator on TikTok, to Lampton School for a live, high-energy show in the main hall. Matt is known nationally for making science fun, memorable, and accessible, and this event is a fantastic opportunity to inspire our students, boost confidence, and reinforce key GCSE content in an engaging way. Thanks to Ms Kassam (Head of Science) and the department for organising these events.
Last week was secondary school offer day for the year 7 cohort of students joining Lampton School in September 2026. I am pleased to report that despite the demographic changes facing the local area our school remains significantly oversubscribed. We received 1078 applications for the 240 places on offer, with 254 being 1st choice preferences. Our last distance offered decreased from what it was in 2025 to 1.08 miles. This number of applications is testament to the excellent outcomes achieved by the school for students and its positive reputation in the area. Thank you to all members of our school community for the contribution they make to this achievement.
Key dates:
| Thursday 26th March | Year 11 parents' evening: 16.00-19.00 |
| Friday 27th March | Term ends at 12.30pm for students |
With best wishes for the week ahead.
Stephen Davis
Headteacher
Finding out more about how well your child is doing at school
Are you interested in finding out more about how well your child is doing at Lampton School? We are launching the MCAS portal and app in the summer term. Parents and carers can use these to find out their child’s attendance, timetable and behaviour information. We will trial the MCAS portal and app before we launch it to parents of pupils in year 8. Would you like to trial it before we launch it to parents of pupils in year 8? If you would please email aleggett@lampton.org.uk with your name and your child’s name and tutor group. We will be trialling it with the first 30 parents to email. Below is an image of what the MCAS portal looks like.
