Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the second week of the Autumn Term 2026. It is Week B with year assemblies taking place; these will focus on making the most of a fresh start to the new term and a reminder of our expectations and routines. These will build on the ‘expectations and routines’ lesson which students in all year groups had last week to remind them of our learning and behaviour expectations.

Our new year 7 cohort started at Lampton last Thursday and are settling in well as they adjust to our expectations and life at secondary school. The new cohort of year 12 also started last Thursday and it was great to see so many of last year’s year 11 students returning after their success at GCSE and also welcoming a number of new students to Lampton who have chosen to pursue their sixth form studies with us. 

Lampton students performed well again in the public examinations at GCSE and post-16 this summer. Results were again in excess of the national average and local schools with a number of impressive individual success stories. Our sixth formers moved on to courses at prestigious universities such as the LSE, King’s College London, University College London and Warwick, studying a wide array of courses including medicine. We wish them further success in their life after Lampton.

The school’s annual open evening for families of students in year 6 takes place on Tuesday 15th September from 16.00-19.00. School will close that day at 12.30.

Finding out more about how well your child is doing at school

Are you interested in finding out more about how well your child is doing at Lampton School? Parents and carers can use the MCAS portal and app to find out their child’s attendance, timetable and behaviour information. We have trialled the MCAS portal and app with a group of parents and they have reported that they have found it very helpful to know more about how well their child is doing at Lampton School. They rated the app 4.3 stars out of 5. We are now extending the use of the portal and app to parents of pupils in year 7 and year 9. If you are a parent of a child in year 7 or year 9 you should have received an email from 16427@bromcomcloud.com. In this there were details on how to set up your MCAS account. Please note that the link expires after 24 hours; so please set this up as soon as you can, after receiving your welcome email. If the link has expired, please contact aleggett@lampton.org.uk for another link. Mobile phones

In line with new statutory guidance, schools must be mobile phone free environments. This means that pupils should not have access to smart phones and social media when they are in school. At Lampton we make it clear that in pupils in years 7 and 8 are not allowed to have smart phones. Pupils in these years are allowed to bring non-smartphones to school. In years 9 to 13 pupils are allowed to bring smartphones to school but these must be turned off, remain in pupils’ bags all day. This means that the phones of pupils in these years must be turned off and not used when their owners are at school.  

Any mobile phone that is seen or heard will be confiscated for five working days. If a pupil in years 7 and 8 is found with a smartphone then the smartphone will be confiscated until the end of half term.

The school can confiscate a phone for a longer period of time if it is used in an incident that involves bullying or any other negative behaviour. This is to ensure that all people involved are protected and kept safe. 

We know that it is important for children to learn how to regulate their screen time. Please set parental limits, monitor what your child is doing on their phone and watching online. Please also have open conversations with them about the dangers of the online world. We will be supporting and educating students on this topic with a focus on understanding healthy friendships through our PSHE curriculum and tutor programme. Uniform

The wearing of school uniform shows a commitment to our school community and our values of excellence, respect and integrity. Students must wear full school uniform to and from school every day. In particular, please note the following:

• Jewellery: only a plain Kara may be worn, no other bracelets are permitted.
• Ear rings: only a single pair of plain studs are permitted. 
• School socks must be short and black.  White ankle socks are not permitted to be worn, particularly by girls over tights when wearing a skirt. Long socks are not permitted.
• Outdoor coats must be plain black as should neck scarves.
• Hijabs should only be plain black or white.

The uniform connects us together as a community and year groups and prepares us for school and lessons.
