Lampton School Newsletter: Week 21 2025-26
Posted on Feb 9th 2026Monday 9th February 2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the sixth week of the spring term 2026. It is week B, so year assemblies are taking place.
It was great to see so many year 7 students and their families at last Tuesday’s celebration evening. Well done to all students and those who won prizes.
Yesterday saw the start of the last round of pre-public examinations (PPEs) for the year 11s prior to the real examinations in the summer. It is vital that students use this experience to hone their examination technique and afterwards respond to the areas of development identified. The final parents’ evening for the year group takes place on Thursday 26th March from 16.00 – 19.00. Details to follow.
Year 8 had their first PSHE drop-down day yesterday. The whole cohort spent the day in carousels learning about: online safety, healthy relationships, consent, growth mindset and digital footprint.
Thursday sees the year 13 parents’ evening taking place from 16.00-19.00, again a vitally important for all students and their families to attend.
On Friday 13th February school will be closed for the majority of students for our remote learning day. If your child is in year 11, 12 or 13 and they are required to attend specific events, you will have been informed about this separately. Students in other year groups will be set work to complete remotely on Friday and must not come to school.
Thank you to those parents who have contacted the school about the parent trustee vacancy. If you are still interested in finding out more about this opportunity, please contact my personal assistant, Ms Sehgal rsehgal@lampton.org.uk by Friday 13th February.

| Thursday 12th February | Year 13 parents' evening: 16.00-19.00 |
| Friday 13th February | Remote Learning Day |
| Monday 16th February - Friday 20th February | Half term |

Year 13 Parents’ Evening – Thursday 12th February
We look forward to meeting the parents of year 13 pupils on Thursday.
We consider it vital that all parents attend parents' evening. If you have not already made appointments to see your child’s teacher please contact rdhadli@lampton.org.uk and she can make appointments for you. Please check your emails for a schedule of appointments.
Please arrive five minutes before your first appointment and sign in; you will be given a pack containing your child’s report and other important information. Please keep to the appointment times - this helps to ensure the efficient running of the evening for all parents.
Remote Learning Day
Friday 13th February is remote learning day. The purpose of the day is to help support students in years 11,12 and 13 prepare for exams. School will be closed to students except for students in years 11,12 and 13.
Please see below details of what students in different year groups will be doing on remote learning day:
| Year 12 and 13 | Selected students will be in school between 09.00 and 14.50 |
| Year 11 | All students should arrive at school at 08.00 as they will be taking their English literature mock exam. The exam will end around 11.30. Selected students will be expected to be in school from this time until the end of their intervention session. |
| Years 7 - 10 | Pupils will be at home completing work set online |
Parents of the students selected to take part in interventions have been emailed with details of when their child(ren) are expected to be in school. Pupils have also been emailed.
Mobile phone update
You may be aware that last week the Government updated its guidance on mobile phones in the light of increasing evidence about their detrimental impact on student welfare. They have made it clear that all schools should be mobile phone free and that school policies should be both clearly explained and fully enforced. We are therefore taking this opportunity to re-enforce the key policy points at Lampton:
- Smartphones are not allowed in school for students in year 7
- If a year 7 pupil’s phone is seen or heard, it will be confiscated until the end of half term
- Pupils in years 8 to 13 are allowed to bring a smartphone, AirPods and smartwatches into school. They must be switched off before the student enters the school site and must be stored in the pupil’s school bag
- If a year 8-13 pupil’s phone is seen or heard the phone will be confiscated for 5 working days
- If a phone has been used in an incident which involves a serious incident, we can keep the phone as long as appropriate and necessary
Full details of the policy are in our Behaviour Policy and Mobile phone policy can be found here.
Our behaviour policy is also clear that searches can be made without consent for any prohibited item and any identified banned item if the school has reasonable grounds for suspecting that a student or students are in possession of one of these items. Staff carrying out these searches would do so in accordance with DfE guidance.
Our trustees review our school policies on a regular basis and the issue of mobile phones is regularly revisited with students and parents.
We advise parents to monitor screen time at home with clear times given, apps being restricted and limits set to support your child revise and ensure they have a good routine before they sleep. We know these routines and boundaries support children’s mental health and wellbeing.
Please help us to keep our school phone free in order to give your children the opportunity to be fully engaged in lessons and develop key character traits that will benefit them in the future.
