Lampton School Newsletter: Week 19 2025-26
Posted on Jan 26th 2026Monday 26th January 2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the fourth week of the spring term 2026. It is week B, so year assemblies are taking place.
On Friday last I was pleased to receive a letter from Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State for Education congratulating the school on the 2024-25 GCSE attainment outcomes for Disadvantaged Students at Lampton School. In the letter she wrote “Congratulations to you and your team on the excellent outcomes the disadvantaged pupils at Lampton Academy achieved at the end of the 2024/25 academic year. Your school’s performance places it among the very best nationally, and this is a significant achievement. This success reflects the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils. It shows what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together. Thank you for everything you do to give children the best possible opportunities to succeed.” This is a great accolade for our school and highlights the ambition we have for every single member of the Lampton community. My thanks to families for their support in our ambition for every student to achieve their very best and the commitment to our values of excellence, respect and integrity.
Following the year 9 options evening last Tuesday the student interviews with senior members of staff have now commenced. These will end on 6th February with the option forms being completed by students by the deadline on Friday 13th February. We had a bumper turnout last week and it was great to see so many students and their families!
Tomorrow, Tuesday 27th January, sees our first celebration evening of the year with year 8 leading the way. We look forward to a full house and to celebrating the many achievements of the year group. The event begins with refreshments at 16.00.
On Wednesday 28th January we have 150 students from years 9 to 11 taking part in the UK intermediate maths challenge. We wish all students the best of luck. Thanks to Mr Gardener and our mathematics department for facilitating this opportunity for our mathematicians to compete nationally.
On Friday 30th January there will be a prevent workshop for all students in year 10 and on Monday 9th February all students in year 8 will be taking part in a PSHE dropdown day, focusing on the following themes: online safety, healthy relationships, consent, growth mindset and digital footprint. These two events form part of our wider personal development and enrichment programme for students.
Finally, Monday 23rd February, the first day after the half-term break will be an INSET day with the school closed to students in all year groups.

Remote Learning Day
Friday 13th February is remote learning day. The purpose of the day is to help support students in years 11,12 and 13 prepare for exams. School will be closed to students except for students in years 11,12 and 13.
Please see below details of what students in different year groups will be doing on remote learning day:
| Year 12 and 13 | Selected students will be in school between 09.00 and 14.50 |
| Year 11 | All students should arrive at school at 08.00 as they will be taking their English literature mock exam. The exam will end around 11.30. Selected students will be expected to be in school from this time until the end of their intervention session. |
| Years 7 - 10 | Pupils will be at home completing work set online |
Parents of the students selected to take part in interventions will be emailed with details of when their child(ren) are expected to be in school. Pupils will also be emailed.
Key Stage 3 Assessments and Revision
In March and April, students in years 7 to 9 will be completing key stage 3 assessments in their subjects. These assessments help teachers check how securely students have learnt the curriculum and identify any areas that need further support. All subjects assess knowledge taught in lessons, and students are expected to complete revision in advance.
In school, students are being taught how to revise effectively using a simple Plan → Do → Review approach, which focusses on short, focused revision and self-quizzing rather than re-reading notes.
Further information about key stage 3 assessments and how parents can support revision at home is available here
