Lampton School Newsletter: Week 36 2024-25

Posted on Jun 30th 2025

Monday 30th June 2025

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the tenth week of the Summer Term 2025. It’s week A, so whole school assemblies are taking place on the theme of careers as we prepare for our whole school careers’ fair on Friday 4th July. This is a great occasion when a significant number of Lampton alumni return to talk about their success after leaving school and inspire our current cohort of students.

We have an incredibly busy week coming up: today we welcomed new staff joining us in September for their initial induction da. Tuesday 1st July is year 6 – year 7 primary transfer day for our new cohort followed by a meeting for parents at 16.00. Thursday sees our annual art, design and performing arts summer showcase and we round the week off with the careers’ fair.

Last week year 9 and year 10 took part in their trip days and my thanks to all staff who accompanied the students and who organised the extensive programme of visits. The next trip days on the horizon are for year 11 and year 13.

My thanks to those of you who took the time to complete our annual stakeholder survey. The results have just been made available and I will share these via the newsletter in the coming weeks. The results, which are overwhelmingly positive, highlight the positive partnership which exists between home and school; so my thanks for your continued support of your child/children as they journey through Lampton School.

A reminder that our annual sponsored walk around Osterley Park is on Wednesday 16th July and in aid of the local charity SHEWISE. More details can be found at shewise.org A reminder that our ambition is that every child tries to collect £10 of sponsorship for the charity.

Advanced dates for this half-term:

Tuesday 1st July Primary transfer day and parents’ evening
Thursday 3rd July Creative arts/art and design summer showcase
7th -10th July Sports days
Wednesday 16th July  Whole school sponsored walk
Tuesday 22nd July Term ends at 12.30pm

With best wishes for the week ahead.

Well Being and Mental Health Support

All students have signed up for Kooth mental health support. Please speak to your child about this online platform. Please encourage your child to spend time away from their phone. There are lots of enrichment clubs in and out of school that will benefit your child in terms of their mental health and developing key skills relevant to their future careers. Please speak to them about how they can look after themselves and use Kooth to help them with this.

One way to support your child is through ensuring they have enough sleep. Please see here for further information on this: https://teensleephub.org.uk/parents-carers/

Holiday Voucher Scheme

We have sent emails to all parents regarding the holiday voucher scheme. If you are eligible for free school meals, then your child is eligible for the Hounslow holiday activities and food programme (HAF) this summer. You will receive your child’s HAF voucher on the 27th June. Funded by the Department for Education, HAF in Summer will include sessions delivered by experienced providers with fun and enriching activities featuring sports and games, cooking, music, arts and crafts, VR experiences and so much more. Eligible young people can also access the gym and swimming at selected leisure centres using their credits for HAF. Eligible young people can attend up to 16 sessions from 23rd July to 29th August and enjoy a free, nutritious meal every day they attend.

All the HAF activities information for Summer and support for booking can be found on Hounslow Family Service Directory HAF programme website. Hounslow HAF can be contacted at HAF@hounslow.gov.uk

Participating in enrichment clubs and opportunities provides students with support in developing key skills for future careers and jobs. These holiday camps and enrichment opportunities support your child to develop team building skills, how to talk and work with others, leadership opportunities and problem solving. These will be really important when applying for college, university and future careers.
