Lampton School Newsletter: Week 31 2024-25
Posted on May 19th 2025Monday 19th May 2025
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the fifth week of the Summer Term 2025 and the last week of our Lampton academic year - all students in years 7 -12 will be promoted to their new groups when we return after the half-term break. Your child/children will be issued with their new timetable later this week so that they can be prepared fully for the new school year. It’s Week A, so whole school assemblies are taking place; these are being led by Ms Leregle (Assistant Headteacher) and focus on the theme of self-discovery.
Last Tuesday we welcomed year 10 and their families for a successful celebration evening and this week on Tuesday and Wednesday we will be welcoming our new cohort of year 7 and their families at their ‘getting to know you’ interviews. This year we will be sharing our new policy on smartphones with families. This is very simple - smartphones will not be permitted in school at all for this year group. Over the coming weeks we will be writing to all families in every year group to reinforce the school’s rules about smartphones. Our recommendation is clear, students do not need a smartphone in school at all. Our policy of ‘hear it, see it, lose it’ will remain in force with devices returned once the student has served community service from 3.10 - 3.40pm. Failure to attend will result in the device being kept until the end of the next working day, so on a Friday this would include keeping the device over the weekend. This is compliant with government guidance: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/65cf5f2a4239310011b7b916/Mobile_phones_in_schools_guidance.pdf
Smartwatches are also not permitted in school and the same confiscation principles apply. Thank you for your support with this important matter.
The remaining key dates of the half-term are below:
| Friday 23rd May | School ends at 3:10pm for the half-term break |
| Monday 2nd June | INSET Day - school site closed to students |
| Tuesday 3rd June | School starts for the new academic year at 8:40am |
With best wishes for the week ahead and the half-term break.
