Lampton School Newsletter: Week 4 2025-26

Monday 22nd September 2025

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the fourth week of the Autumn Term 2025.

It’s Week B so year assemblies are taking place.  Firstly, this week an apology for the inconvenience caused on Friday 19th September by the erroneous text message which was sent to parents and carers regarding students having to remain after school. This was an administrative error made by the school and as a result additional administrative training has been put in place to prevent this from happening again. Thursday 25th September is an INSET day for staff, so the school site is closed for students in all year groups. School resumes for all students on Friday 26th September at 8.40am with Registration as usual.

Year 8 and year 9 students are currently preparing for their upcoming examinations, which begin next week for year 8 and in the week commencing 29th September for year 9. Year 7 will sit their first round of examinations in March. To support students in transferring knowledge into their long-term memory, all subjects have now published knowledge organisers. These provide clear summaries of the key content students should revise and can be accessed via the Subject Pages on the school website.

Thank you for your continued support for our new expectations regarding mobile phones. Very few students have been subject to the sanction of having their device confiscated for five working days. A reminder that this expectation also applies to smartwatches and air pods. Y7 are not permitted to have a smartphone at all. To support the implementation of our policy we are carrying out random checks, so please remind your child that devices must be turned off and in their bag as soon as they enter the school site. It is not sufficient for devices to be on silent, do not disturb, or aeroplane mode. They must be switched off.

I am pleased to report that our attendance figure is stabilising following some students returning late from the holiday due to term-time leave. A reminder that term-time leave is never authorised by the school due to the detrimental impact it has on educational outcomes. Our target for every child is that their attendance is at least 96%. There are a significant number of students who have surpassed this target already which is great news.

With best wishes for the week ahead,

Stephen Davis

Heritage Languages

At Lampton School we value the importance of learning languages and also acknowledge that many of our students already speak a wide range of languages. Therefore, we offer lessons in some of the most commonly spoken languages. Currently we offer lessons after school in Panjabi, Urdu and Russian. All students are welcome whether they are already fluent and want to prepare for exams or whether they are beginners and want to start learning another language. If you would like your child to learn a new language or prepare to take an exam in their own language please encourage them to join the lessons. Lessons take place on Tuesdays after school and students can find out more information by speaking to Ms Edwards, who can be found in room 10 or checking the extra-curricular activities programme.

If we currently do not offer lessons in a language your child speaks, please contact Ms Edwards (vedwards@lampton.org.uk) to express your interest in your language. You can also contact Ms Edwards if you would like your child to take part in lessons or would like your child to be entered for exams. This applies to students in years 10 to 13.
