Lampton School Newsletter: Week 29 2024-25

Thursday 8th May 2025

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the third week of the Summer Term 2025. It’s Week A, so whole school assemblies are taking place. These are being led by Mr Bates (Deputy Headteacher) and are focusing on the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day which takes place this week. We will also be re-iterating our expectations about conduct to and from school in these assemblies following a minority of students behaving in an antisocial manner at the end of last week in the hot weather. The school’s behaviour policy applies on students’ journeys to and from school.

The Public Examinations have now started and the last few days have seen students in year 11 completing practical examinations, speaking tests and some BTEC exams. Whole cohort exams begin next Monday on 12th May with English Literature. Year 11 will return to lessons after their exams and it is essential that they use this time productively - advice and guidance will be provided.

On Friday 9th May in the afternoon we will say farewell to our year 13 cohort who will be going on study leave next week. We wish them every success in their exams and look forward to celebrating their success in August on results day.

Before half-term parents/carers of students in the current year 7, 8 and 9 will be receiving a letter about how their classes will be determined in the core subjects of English, mathematics and science for next academic year starting on 2nd June. Students will be grouped by attainment in these subjects rather than in mixed attainment groups. This decision has been made in the best interest of supporting all students to make exceptional progress. The details of this change will be highlighted in the letter which will be sent by email before the half-term break.

Today we look forward to welcoming year 8 families for the parents’ evening from 4 - 7pm followed on 22nd May by year 7 families.

Key dates for the remainder of this half-term are:

Monday 12th May Year 12 PPEs start
Tuesday 20th & Wednesday 21st May Primary Transfer interviews
Thursday 22nd May  Y7 Parents’ Evening
Friday 23rd May  School ends at 3:10pm for the half-term break
Monday 2nd June  INSET Day - school site closed to students
Tuesday 3rd June School starts for the new academic year at 8:40am

A reminder that the very best way to support your child is to make sure that they attend school each and every day on time.

With best wishes for this short week,

Stephen Davis
