Monday 19th June

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the ninth week of the Summer Term 2023. It’s Week A with our whole school assemblies focusing on Pride month led by Ms Grantham, Mr Bates and Ms Edwards. My thanks to Ms Grantham and Ms Edwards for the work which they undertake throughout the year as our whole school equalities leads, and in particular their support for LGBT+ students through the work of the Diversity Group.

The Public Examinations are beginning to wind down, so my thanks to Y11 and Y13 students for their focus - we now look towards their Proms and Y11 taking part in their sixth form taster day on Thursday this week. An often overlooked group of people who facilitate the smooth running of our exams are our dedicated band of external invigilators - this small group of staff invigilate both our Public and internal exams and provide a very conscientious service to the students and the school for which we are all grateful. My thanks to these colleagues and to our Exams Officer Ms Lewis who masterminds the whole logistical feat of the exam season in a calm and collected way.

In these remaining five weeks of the summer term, our enrichment programme will really come to life. Day trips, visits and residentials are all scheduled to take place between now and the end of term. A highlight of this programme is the event which brings the whole school community together: our sponsored walk around Osterley Park on Wednesday 19th July. Our chosen charity this year is SPEAR - a homelessness support charity and winner of our Y10 First Give presentation a couple of weeks ago. More details of the event to follow!

With best wishes for the week ahead.

Hayfever

If your child suffers from hayfever, please ensure they have taken their medication (eye drops, tablets, nasal spray) before coming to school.  We do not offer hayfever tablets to students.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Y12/13  Award Evening and ‘Life after Lampton’ information evening

We look forward to welcoming parents and students of new Y13 (Y12) to the Awards evening and UCAS/ Life after Lampton information session.  It will be held in the Sixth Form centre from 16.30, with refreshments from the canteen and a chance to meet staff.  We look forward to seeing you then.

Sixth Form Taster Day

On Thursday, we look forward to welcoming prospective Sixth form students to the Sixth Form Centre to find out more about their chosen courses and sixth form life.  Students will have the opportunity to visit lessons for any subjects that they are interested in studying as well as to speak to Sixth Form staff with any questions they may have.  Registration for the day will start at 9.10 in the atrium. We would also encourage ex-Y11 students to donate any unwanted uniform for so that we can find a new home for items with younger students. There will be boxes available to receive donations at the registration desk.

Students who have been offered a conditional place should have received a link to their school email accounts.  Replies should be sent by Wednesday 21st June at 9 am.

Safeguarding briefing: water safety

As the temperature rises it’s important that children understand how to stay safe on beaches, in rivers and any where else where they may encounter open water. The water safety code teaches children different ways to stay safe, and is essential knowledge for all!
