Lampton School - Week 29

Posted on Apr 25th 2022

Monday 25th April

Dear Parent, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our weekly update for the second week of the Summer Term 2022.

As this is Week B year assemblies are taking place. As I said last week, we are focusing on school uniform and ensuring that students are well presented during the school day and also on their way to and from school. Please remind your child of this and the importance of leaving the school site and the local area quickly and safely.

The Public Examinations are approaching rapidly. If your child is in Y11 or Y13 they should be revising outside of school time and using their time wisely. If your child requires support in preparing for the exams and their organisation, please contact their Head of Year.

Living with Covid: if your child displays covid symptoms they should remain at home and complete a test.

With best wishes for the week ahead,

Stephen Davis

Safeguarding briefing

The world in which children grow up in today is very different from the one that we may have experienced. The advent of social media in particular has radically changed the way in which students can relate to one another, seek support and build friendships. However, this change also brings with it risks and dangers. This guide from the NSPCC is comprehensive and useful for parents and carers when navigating some of these challenges: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/what-is-child-abuse/types-of-abuse/bullying-and-cyberbullying/

If students are worried about online bullying, we encourage them to speak to their form tutor, Head of Year or a member of the school’s safeguarding team. The safeguarding team can be contacted via email safeguarding@lampton.org.uk

Follow the school via Twitter

As we return to the ‘new normal’ at school we are keen to promote the many varied activities that students have the opportunity to take part in. For example, both last Friday and today all Y10 students have been taking part in the Jack Pethcey ‘Speak Out’ challenge, developing the confidence and ability to speak in public about a topic of their choice. We share details of special events via the school’s Twitter feed: follow us today to gain a greater insight into the life of the school.
