Lampton School - Week 27

Posted on Apr 17th 2023

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the first week of the Summer Term 2023.  It’s Week A and I have been leading our whole school assemblies focusing on the new beginnings associated with the major religious festivals celebrated over the past few weeks and looking ahead to Eid at the end of this week.

I have been informed by the NEU that they have called a further two days of strike action regarding the on-going dispute over staff pay and educational funding. These will be held on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May - I will confirm arrangements for these days as soon as possible. This half-term will also see Bank Holidays taking place on Monday 1st and Monday 8th May - it is therefore really imperative that Y11 and Y13 students maximise every single opportunity they have both in school and at home to study.

Best wishes for the week ahead,

Stephen Davis

Safeguarding bulletin - sleep and wellbeing

The link between children’s social, emotional and cognitive development and the amount of sleep they get is well known, but yet it can be challenging to get children into positive habits so that they get enough sleep. The Sleep Charity has some helpful guidance for parents and carers on both how much sleep children need at different stages of their development, and how parents can help their children develop better routines for sleep. Please see: https://thesleepcharity.org.uk/how-much-sleep-does-my-child-need/

Uniform

As the weather improves with the start of the new term, a reminder that students are required to wear ties and blazers to school. If your child does not bring their own tie or blazer, they will be loaned one from Student Services for the day (and will need to give their phone as security). If this happens again, they will receive a Community Service for persistent poor uniform. We will also text parents and carers to let you know, if this happens please can you ensure that your child is dressed in full school uniform before they leave the following day.
