Extra Curricular, Trips & Activities
The school is committed to providing a wide range of extra-curricular activities, trips and visits that complement the taught curriculum and extend learning beyond the classroom. These opportunities offer pupils valuable experiences that develop both character and intellect, helping them to become confident, ambitious young people.
At Lampton, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Wider learning opportunities are integral to the pupil experience, enabling students to develop essential life skills through teamwork, leadership, collaboration and new experiences. They also provide opportunities to build friendships, broaden horizons and, importantly, have fun!
Educational trips and visits are woven throughout the pupil journey, enriching learning and helping students to develop the key character traits of kindness, responsibility, grit and intellectual curiosity. From exploring historical sites and geographical landscapes to experiencing different cultures and engaging with new ideas, these opportunities encourage curiosity, independence and a deeper understanding of the world. Examples include the Geography trip to West Wittering, Modern Foreign Language visits and exchanges, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, alongside a wide range of day visits, tours and sporting activities. Each experience contributes to students’ social and cultural capital, broadens their aspirations and creates lasting memories.
Making the most of London’s cultural capital
As a London school, we are committed to ensuring that our students experience our incredible capital city to the full. London offers an exceptional wealth of cultural, historical, educational and social opportunities, and we want every student to appreciate and benefit from the richness of London. Through visits to places such as the Royal Courts of Justice, London Zoo, the Natural History Museum, the Wallace Collection, the British Museum, the Florence Nightingale Museum, the Clink Museum and Borough Market, students encounter new perspectives, explore our shared heritage and develop a deeper understanding of the world in which they live. We believe that access to cultural experiences should broaden aspirations, build cultural confidence and equip young people with the knowledge and appreciation to participate fully in society.
Alongside trips and visits, students benefit from a varied programme of on-site workshops and enrichment events for example our Y9 Adventure and Orienteering Day, our KS3 Explore, Challenge Lead programme, Careers workshops (our Limitless Learning offer), Action Breaks Silence workshops and St John Ambulance First Aid training. These experiences provide further opportunities for pupils to develop teamwork, celebrate diversity, strengthen responsibility and acquire practical skills that will support for life after Lampton.
Developing kindness through social action
Supporting our local community is also an important part of a Lampton education. We believe that young people should understand the positive difference they can make to the lives of others. Students are expected to participate in social action projects that encourage them to contribute to their communities, support those in need and develop the character trait of kindness. Through these projects, students learn the value of active citizenship, empathy and collective responsibility, recognising that even small actions can have a meaningful impact on others. These experiences help students develop a lasting sense of social responsibility and an appreciation of the importance of giving back to their community.
Lampton also offers a broad programme of extra-curricular activities before, during and after the school day, giving pupils opportunities to discover new interests, develop existing talents and participate in the wider life of Lampton. Together, these experiences form an important part of a Lampton education, ensuring that personal development, cultural enrichment, community engagement and character-building are interwoven throughout the student experience.
