Curriculum Intent:

This  course equips learners with the skills and confidence to explore how business situations affect business decisions developing analytical and decision making skills . It is a well-rounded introduction to the subject allowing learners to become financially and commercially aware. Through the course we  will look to promote financial literacy in business and support the understanding of ethics and responsibility in business.

  • Help them stay organised.

All students will be encouraged to read as much as possible.  Read an article on a news app BBC News or Sky this will aid their understanding. 

 

What opportunities for enrichment are there in Business?

There are always opportunities to develop business knowledge.Students can complete additional courses on Forage and Springpod to gain practical experience of business in their own time or enrol on the Barclays Life Skills programme.

 

What careers can success in Business lead to?

GCSE business provides a solid foundation to enter the fields of Marketing, Retail, Accountancy, HR and Operations whether that is via an apprenticeship route or through further education.

GCSE Business helps to nurture and develop critical and analytical skills making connections between decision making and final outcomes; all transferable skills in students' pending journeys where they will need resilience , grit and and curiosity to progress in the fields they choose .

BTEC Business Diploma

A level exam board & specification: NQF BTEC National Diploma 2016 ( 2 A levels)

This is a 8 module course spread over 2 years, with 6 coursework modules and 2 examination modules in each year, students will gain an overall insight into the key areas of business. Work is portfolio based and covers a wide range of business concepts incorporating marketing, Human Resources, Finance, business communication and Business Resources, examples of assignments are below.

How to help your child
  • Help students to organise their work on a regular weekly basis.
