Lampton School -Week 11

Posted on Nov 21st 2022

Monday 21st November

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the eleventh  week of the Autumn Term 2022. It’s Week B, so year assemblies are taking place. Our character theme for this fortnight is ‘reflection’ and it’s appropriate that we have two Progress Evenings taking place in the coming weeks: Y9 online on Thursday 1st December and Y11 face-to-face on Thursday 8th December. Please make sure you have made appointments for these.

This week in the bulletin there are important messages regarding safeguarding, makeup and nail varnish - including acrylic nails - and information about sixth form applications.

A reminder that school will be closed on Friday 25th November and Monday 28th November. School resumes at 8.40am on Tuesday 29th November for the final few, busy, weeks to the end of term.

With best wishes for the week ahead.

Stephen Davis

Safeguarding briefing - supporting students with poor mental health

When someone suffers from mental health problems, it can be difficult to know how best to support them. We are often more at ease when discussing supporting people suffering from poor physical health, yet we know how debilitating poor mental health can be. At Lampton we are fortunate to have an extensive mental health team - Jo Grant, Pareen Rathod and Simone Daniels, who work closely with the Safeguarding team and Heads of Year. If you are concerned about your child’s mental health, please do get in touch with the Safeguarding team at Lampton. The NHS has also recently produced this excellent resource to help give greater insight into mental health: https://thismayhelp.me/.

Sixth Form applications

It was wonderful to see so many Y11 students and their families on Sixth Form Open evening; we hope that everyone found it a useful introduction to Sixth Form life.  Applications are now open until the 16th December.  The information about applications and the forms can be found here How to Apply - Lampton School

Make-up and nail varnish

A reminder of our uniform code: Heavy make-up should not be worn, nor nail varnish. Pupils breaking this rule will have to remove makeup/nail varnish in Student Services. Wearing acrylic or other 'fake nails' is not allowed for health and safety reasons, and students will be asked to remove these in Student Services.

Reporting Pupil Absence

If your child is absent, please use the email pupil_absence@lampton.org.uk to report this absence. This will ensure that we can process this notification in a timely manner. If possible, please try to avoid calling in as this will slow down the process of notification. Please note that all appointments, unless urgent, should be scheduled outside of school hours. Thank you for your support with this.
