Lampton School - Week 7

Posted on Oct 17th 2022

Monday 17th October

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the seventh  week of the Autumn Term 2022. It’s Week B and our character focus for this fortnight is ‘organisation’.

The half-term break begins on Friday 21st October with school ending at the usual time of 3.10pm. We resume as normal on Monday 31st October at 8.40am with Registration. The break offers the opportunity for us all to reflect on what we have achieved in the first part of the Autumn Term and how we can strive to achieve excellence when we return for the second half of term. This may be, for example, completion of homework to the highest standard; revision; punctuality; uniform or presentation of work. All of us will have areas where we can challenge ourselves further.

The all important Pre-Public Exams (PPEs) begin for Y11 on 31st October. It’s therefore imperative that the half-term break is used widely to prepare for these examinations. It has been very pleasing to visit Y11 lessons and see the students stepping up to the challenges that lie ahead.

On Friday of this week Y11 will also have the chance to take part in the ‘You can Do’ careers day. This is the first, large, face-to-face careers event which will have taken place post-Covid and we are very pleased that we will be joined by a number of our former students - our alumni, Old Lamptonians - who will be inspiring our current students. My thanks to Ms Cowing and colleagues for organising this event.

With best wishes for the week ahead and next week’s break.

Stephen Davis
