Head of Year 7 Updates

WB. 07/09/2020 will be Week A

WB 14th September is WEEK B

Friday 11th September

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Year 7 have successfully completed their first week at Lampton and I have been inundated with positive feedback- teachers are really impressed with how polite and engaged year 7 have been and I am really proud of how well they have started secondary school. They have really adapted well and shown real maturity in dealing with a brand new and quite complex timetable.

At this point all students should have correct uniform, including smart school shoes. Students should also have their complete equipment, including a face mask, which is mandatory in communal areas of the school. Students may also bring hand gel if they require.

All year 7 have now been allocated their updated Google Classroom login. We have issued all year 7 students with letters explaining how Google Classroom will work. Please ensure that your child keeps their password safe!

As indicated last week, we are currently running a complicated timetable to keep all year groups separate and reduce the cross-contamination of bubbles. For this reason we are currently unable to make any changes to our timetable, including language selection. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation on this.

Week beginning Monday 14th September will be WEEK B so students need to ensure that they bring the correct books and equipment.

We will also be staggering the end time for each year group to avoid crowding at the school gates/ on the way home. For year 7, the end time for school is as follows:

Monday: 15:05

Tuesday: 15:10

Wednesday: 15:15

Thursday 15:20

Friday 15:25

We've had a great start so let's keep up the good work!

Kind regards,

Miss Mahmoud (Head of Year 7)

Friday 4th September: HoY update

WB. 07/09/2020 will be Week A

Friday 4th September

Dear year 7, parents and guardians,

Year 7 have made a fantastic start to their time at Lampton- I have already received so many comments from staff who have noticed how polite and positive this year group has been, so hopefully we can keep this going.

In line with government guidance, we are keeping all our students safe via 'year group bubbles' and a rather complex timetable. Due to the complexity of our school day at the moment, we are unable to accommodate any timetabling change requests. We thank you for your understanding on this. Should the situation change I will update you.

Students will start their day with registration at 9:50. Students will be unable to enter the school gates before 9:30am. Students will now be requested to enter the school site via the Sports Hall gate, which can be found down the left-hand alleyway once you approach the main school gates.  Once students do enter the school they must go straight to their year group locations. This is to avoid students from different year groups mixing in the playground and to keep students in their safe 'year group bubbles'.

Students will need to bring a face mask to school as all students and staff will be required to wear a face mask in communal areas.

Students have also been given a second letter with their ParentPay details so please do set this up as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. Any issues please contact FinanceOffice@lampton.org.uk

Just as a gentle reminder, there is a restriction on vehicles entering Lampton Avenue so please avoid dropping your child too close to the school. If your child has siblings at the school, please enusre that they have a meeting place away from the school gates. Again, this is to help avoid mixing/ large crowds of students at the school gate.

We will also be staggering the end time for each year group to avoid crowding at the school gates/ on the way home. For year 7, the end time for school is as follows:

Monday: 15:05

Tuesday: 15:10

Wednesday: 15:15

Thursday 15:20

Friday 15:25

Finally, we will be re-organising the Google Classroom for year 7 next week. If your child has lost their password/ username, please do not worry. We will be sorting this out as soon as possible in IT lessons.

We've had a great start so let's keep up the good work!

Kind regards,

Miss Mahmoud (

Thursday 16th July 2020 HoY update

Thursday 16th July 2020

Dear parents and guardians,

Firstly, I want to thank you all for being so proactive and engaging with our transition so well- it's been fantastic to see so many of our new students on the Google Classroom and taking part in the activities we have organised.

On the Google Classroom we have uploaded the finalised form groups and I have also uploaded a presentation to go through our current plans for starting school in September. You can find the key information in the slides at the bottom of the page titled 'September Information'.

We recently hosted a live Parents Information Evening on Tuesday 7th July at 7pm.  If you were unable to watch live, you can watch the recording by clicking this link.

Last week we also posted out letters regarding ParentPay. These letters include instructions and login details to enable you to set up your ParentPay account before September and ensure that your child has adequate funds for their lunch during the first week of term. ParentPay is the system by which students can pay for food, trips and other opportunities at Lampton. To find out more click here

The students' first day back will be Thursday 3rd September and they need to be in school by 9:45am.  Please make sure you have the correct uniform and equipment before starting in September. Uniform can be purchased here

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

If not, have a safe and happy summer.

Kind regards,

Miss Mahmoud (Head of Year 7)

Thursday 27th August: HoY Update

Thursday 27th August

Dear new year 7, parents and guardians,

I all hope you have had a productive and enjoyable summer and are looking forward to starting your time at Lampton.

In line with government guidance, we will be running a full return to school in September and will be following strict health and safety guidelines to keep all our staff and students safe. The different year groups will be kept separate, with separate physical learning zones and staggered break times. More information about this can be found on the presentation I gave on Google Classroom at the end of July. Students will also learn more about how this will work on their first day.

Year 7 will have their first day at Lampton on Thursday 3rd September. Students should be on site by 9:45 at the latest to ensure that they are in registration by 9:50. I will be at the front gate to meet and direct students. Students will need to bring a face mask to school as all students and staff will be required to wear a face mask in communal areas. Students need to be in their full uniform and bring their bags/ equipment to school as usual. Students may bring a packed lunch, but if they require a school lunch please ensure that your ParentPay account is set up. Any issues please contact FinanceOffice@lampton.org.uk

We kindly request that you avoid driving down Lampton Avenue to the school gates to drop off your child; this causes a lot of congestion down Lampton Avenue and sometimes slows students down when they are trying to get into school.

We will also be implementing a new timetable to accomodate all our students and support them in staying safe in their travel to and from school. School will start at 9:50am to allow both staff and students to travel to school using public transport outside peak times and avoid crowds. We will also be staggering the end time for each year group to avoid crowding at the school gates/ on the way home. For year 7, the end time for school is as follows:

Monday: 15:05

Tuesday: 15:10

Wednesday: 15:15

Thursday 15:20

Friday 15:25

Finally, it is great to see so many of our new year 7s already signed into Google Classroom! I am aware that some students have forgotten passwords etc. As we are still on the summer holiday it is unlikely that we will resolve this before September, but I will be checking in with students to get this resolved once we return to school.

I am really looking forward to meeting our year group and starting your Lampton journey! I hope you enjoy your last week of the holidays and if there are any urgent questions please do contact me.

Kind regards,

Miss Mahmoud (Head of Year 7)

Monday 29th June: HoY update

Dear parents and guardians,

Now that we have met most of you, we are starting to prepare for the transition into secondary school.

Everyone should have now recieved a Google Classroom login via email- instructions for how to join the Google Classroom can be found in a document at the bottom of this page. We will not be setting work via this platform, as many of you are still attending primary school and completing your work there, but our Google Classroom will be a place where you can find resources, updates and where we will be announcing the form groups in a few weeks time. If you have any issues with Google Classroom, please email me.

This week (Wednesday 1st July) we will be posting our 'Welcome to Lampton Booklet' for our new students, in which they can learn about the expectations at Lampton and complete a few tasks to get them ready for their time at secondary school.

We will also be publishing our 'Parent/Carer Guide' on 1st July, with a range of practical information for parents and guardians who have children coming to Lampton. Following this, we will be sending out a form for parents to ask any questions which have not been addressed in the 'Parent/Carer Guide'.

We are also in the process of preparing our Parents Information Evening on Tuesday 7th July at 7pm. This will be hosted live via YouTube, the details of which will be sent out closer to the time.

Monday 22nd June: HoY update

Dear parents and guardians,

This week is the first opportunity we will get to meet each-other and I cannot wait! Whether you’re having a face-to-face meeting or a video call, here are some top tips for your interview:

1)      Be open- there is nothing to be nervous or shy about, we just want to get to know you a little better so feel free to get chatty!

2)      Be on time- we’ve tried to plan these interviews to ensure that everyone stays safe and gets an opportunity to share- this means we need to follow our schedule quite closely! If there are any issues with your appointment please email hmahmoud@lampton.org.uk

3)      Be honest- there are lots of things we are all good at and enjoy, and there are also things that make us nervous or worried. Don’t be shy to share both- the more we know the more we can support.

4)      Be patient-  The members of staff doing these interviews are really excited to meet you and want you to have a great meeting. Remember that we are running these meetings in a new way this year to keep everyone safe, so please be patient if there are any little bumps in the road.

5)      Enjoy it! This is your first taste of life at Lampton so enjoy it and start building some positive relationships!

Any questions regarding these interviews, please get in touch with me. If you have yet to receive an appointment for a ‘Getting to Know You’ interview please check the following:

·         That you have completed and submitted the enrolment form (sent out at the beginning of June).

·         Your inbox and junk mail for the interview appointment email (sent out last week).

A further step in planning for your child to attend Lampton School is getting their secondary school uniform- including the Lampton School bag. Monday 15th June: HoY update

Morning parents and guardians,

We hope you and your families are continuing to stay safe and well and that the cold weather hasn’t dampened your enthusiasm about joining secondary school!

We have now had the majority of enrolment forms returned to us and this information is invaluable in helping us to organise ‘Getting to Know You’ interviews as well as many other aspects of preparing for your child to start Lampton. If you have been unable to complete/submit your form please do this as soon as possible. A gentle reminder to parents who have not submitted a contact email, please do so as soon as possible to support us in communicating vital information to you and your child.

In the next few weeks we will be in contact with you regarding an appointment for your interview with us. These interviews will last no longer than 10 minutes and will be organised based on your preference for either a socially-distanced face to face meeting or a video call. It is important that you and your child are present as we really want to get to know each of our students individually- these interviews are nothing to worry about and are purely in place to support your child in making a smooth transition to Lampton.  You can also find an FAQ document on this page answering some of the queries we have received over the last week or two regarding the interviews. Of course our priority is to maintain the safety of all our staff, students and families: we are currently ensuring that the interview process can be run safely and smoothly and once these plans have been finalised we will publish more detailed information.

In the meantime if you have any questions regarding the ‘Getting to Know You’ interviews, which are not already answered on the FAQ sheet, you can get in touch with me at hmahmoud@lampton.org.uk

 Kind regards,

 Miss H. Mahmoud

Monday 8th June 2020: HoY update

Dear parents and guardians,

I hope this message finds you and your families well during this period of uncertainty.

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the Head of Year 7 and to welcome your sons and daughters to the Lampton community! We are looking forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks and ensuring that everyone is ready for the next stage of their education.

It has been fantastic to receive so many enrolment forms back in the last week- thank you for getting back to us so promptly. If you have been unable to complete the form yet, please do complete as soon as you can. This information helps us make sure your child has the smoothest possible start to secondary school.

We will be getting in touch very soon to organise our 'Getting to Know You' interviews; whether these are done via a socially distanced meeting or video call. Remember, these interviews are an opportunity for us to really get to know your child and for you both to communicate any information you feel is pertinent for us to know. If you would like to request an additional meeting without your child present, please indicate this on your enrolment form.

Over the next few weeks we will endeavour to keep you informed about the transition to secondary school, in these ever-changing circumstances, and we invite you to read the 'New Parent/Carer Guide' for further practical information regarding starting Lampton.

In the meantime, I hope you all stay safe and healthy and we look forward to meeting you very soon!

Kind regards,

Miss Hanan Mahmoud

The lessons are given by experts from the Hounslow Music Service but are delivered in school during the school-day.
