The coaching and mentoring sessions have been very productive so far. Pupils are beginning to develop a lot of independence and are becoming responsible for their actions. The boys are responding well to all expectations such as getting organised the night before, completing homework on time, shaking hands with a firm hand shake, tucking in their shirts during practice, being respectful of others, managing their temperament etc. At times, with the after school session’s pupils have to complete 20-30min homework/study before we start practice.
All parents have to sign a letter of agreement before pupils are let on board with the Academy. Through this Alan Keene (coach) has built up a strong relationship with these parents and has found them to be very supportive when called upon. The pupils also sign a contract stating that they will adhere to the rules and expectations.
“ In terms of work ethic in the class the basketball academy boys are more focused and seem to be slightly more confident about getting on with their work despite what peer’s are saying/doing ”— A Lampton teacher
