Improving Teacher Programme

Programme Overview

ITP is a highly effective school-based programme, designed and delivered by experienced and successful school leaders. This programme is open to all teachers who want to improve teaching and learning and deliver consistently good lessons. It is targeted at teachers with the capacity and commitment to improve. For many schools, it is a preferred option for teachers in their first 2 years of teaching. For other schools it is used to support the development of teachers graded as ‘3’ in Ofsted terms but with the capacity to improve.

Programme Structure

ITP is a six week development programme (one day per week). It is delivered face-to-face by outstanding facilitator. Sessions are interactive and provide opportunities for peer support and lesson observation.

Programme Commitment

The programme works best if schools are able to send three teachers on the same course, as coaching takes place in triads. However it is still viable if a school cannot release three teachers at the same time. Schools are expected to allocate a mentor to each participant. The mentor should attend the first and the final sessions and their role is to help the teachers progress the programme work in their own schools.

£575 per participant

Programmes have been planned for both the Spring term in 2012 (starting after half-term) and for the Summer. The programme is also delivered to primary schools in conjunction with Springwell School. please contact Christine Gilbert for details.

Challenge Partnership members will have their own fee structure.
