Charity football match – Staff vs Sixth form.
After a tight opening, Mr Timmins drove down the left wing and smashed in a cross across the keeper which landed in the far right corner. The sixth form then started to get their game back together and made two quick breaks with strong finishes to make the score 2–1. Just before half time, Mr Stranks set himself for a cross about fifteen yards out of the box. He curled in a beautiful free kick that found the top corner to level the scores at 2-2. Just before the half time whistle there was still one more chance and it fell to the sixth formers. Stefan, running through our midfield un-challenged, left an opening which the sixth formers took to make it 3-2.
The second half started with a bang and the staff made a few changes to the line-up which got the team moving. After a few short, well worked passes, Mr Day flicked the ball into the top corner and out of the reach of the keeper to level the scores again to 3 – 3. With few minutes left on the clock, a burst forward from the staff left another chance for Mr Day which, after a steadying touch, he put in under the keeper taking the score to 4 – 3. With the win in sight, the staff looked solid at the back and the final whistle was blown. Staff 4 – Sixth Formers 3
