On Friday 30th March, 15 year 7 to 11 pupils, along with Mr Lawley and Miss Vickers from Lampton school started their epic 24 hour bus journey to Austria for the Easter ski trip. We were sharing the trip with a school called Winchcombe from Gloucester. This immediately provided a vast range of cultural differences to share, with Omar Miyanji being the first to make new friends by swapping his baseball cap with a Wichcombe pupil’s tweed flat cap!
After the long journey we arrived in Austria and collected our ski equipment, ready for the first day of skiing the day after. The pupils were all divided in to one of four groups depending on ability, and Jordan Pillai having only skied three times before went confidently in to the top group.
“Best trip ever” (Will Robinson 8J, Omar Miyanji 8Q)
The instructors were excellent and supported all the pupils regardless of ability. All the groups made wonderful progress through the week and even those who had never put a pair of ski boots on before were confidently skiing blue runs by the end of the week.
“Skiing in Sick” (Nicolas Molina-Scott 8J)
There were a wide variety of evening entertainments, from swimming to bowling, a quiz to a traditional Austrian Tyrolean evening.
“Can I come again next year? It was soooo much fun” Anna Koto 9M
All the pupils had an amazing time and are desperate to go back next year, so book your places quickly!
