Lampton’s Design and Technology department arranged a visit to ‘New Designers 2014’ at the Business Design Centre in London on Thursday 26th June and Thursday 3rd July. New Designers is the UK’s most important graduate design exhibition showcasing over 3,500 of the best, newly graduated designers from across the nation. The trip was open to all GCSE Design and Technology students from Textiles, Graphics and Product Design who were able to view work from a wide range of design disciplines such as: Furniture & Product Design (including Spatial Design & Industrial Design), Visual Communications (including Graphic Design and Illustration), Motion Arts & Theatre Design, Textiles, Fashion and Accessories as well as Contemporary Applied Arts and Jewellery, Ceramics and Glass. Students who took part in this event were able to increase their awareness and understanding of design in their specific subject area as well as view the very best in graduate design from the UK. It was also an amazing opportunity to talk directly to college tutors and graduates and find out more about university courses on offer, pathways for study post-16 as well as career opportunities. The work on show was inspirational and students were really excited to see such a wide variety of innovative and creative design!
