Lampton News - Week 15

Posted on Dec 13th 2021

Monday 13th December

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our weekly update for the fifteenth, and final, week of the Autumn Term 2021.

Following the announcement of the government’s Plan B and the Prime Minister’s broadcast last night, I would just like to reiterate the procedures we have in place currently within school:

  • Face coverings are compulsory in communal areas in school - please ensure that your child has a covering each day;

  • If your child travels on public transport, they must use a face covering for their journey;

  • Lateral Flow testing will take place when students return to school in January. All students must test at home on 3rd January 2022 prior to their return. They should also continue to test twice weekly at home during the break.

Arrangements for the last week of this term:

Normal lesson times will be adhered to up until Friday 17th December when the following arrangements will be in place:

Registration will take place at the normal time and lessons will run as per usual periods 1 and 2. Period 3 will be a tutor period with students being dismissed from 12 Noon.  Students must vacate the vicinity of the school promptly.

Arrangements for the start of the Spring Term 2022:

Term starts at the normal time on Tuesday 4th January 2022 with Week A and lessons as per normal. All students must complete a Lateral Flow test at home on 3rd January and in-school testing will begin when students return. A reminder that if your child has a positive Lateral Flow, they will need to have this confirmed by a PCR test, remaining at home until they receive their results.

Please use the holiday to ensure that your child’s uniform is fully compliant with our policy and expectations - especially shoes and the Lampton bag. The types of shoes acceptable for school are shown on the year team pages.  A reminder that outdoor coats must be plain black and that scarves must be plain black too.

This week in the tutor periods this week we will be undertaking a spot-check identifying those students who require the correct uniform in place by 3rd January.

Thank you:

I would like to place on record my thanks to all students, families, staff and Trustees for their support during this very long and challenging term. We are clearly not over the pandemic, and there will be more challenges ahead for us all as a community in 2022. We have been successful in adjusting to these trying times by remaining positive, resilient, agile and showing determination. We will continue to be guided by our school’s values of excellence, respect and integrity as we move forward into an uncertain future.

I wish you and your families a restful and safe holiday and a happy and healthy 2022.

Stephen Davis

School uniform checks

To ensure that students are dressed in accordance with the school’s uniform policy, form tutors will be carrying out checks specifically on students’ shoes and bags this week. The vast majority of students wear their school uniform correctly, however there are some students who do not either have a school bag, or are wearing inappropriate shoes or trainers. We will contact you via email and text if your child is missing either formal school shoes, or a school bag, so that you can ensure that your child is fully equipped and ready for the start of the new term in January.
